If you have received the files from the person who purchased the license and unzipped them and are ready to go then continue on. Otherwise you might want to start here first then come back to this web page to install on a website. If you're using Adobe Dreamweaver or another html creation program the putting the GT Slide Show on a website is similar to adding a picture. To start make sure the gtslideshow.swf file is in your websites directory anywhere you want. Then click and drag to place it on the page just like you would a picture. Upload the webpage and the swf file and you're done. Make sure you add the swf file to the webpage in Design view because it automatically configures the dimensions of the swf file to 550x400. If you add it in code view it goes with default values of 32x32 which is incorrect. If you program web pages entirely in html then you'll need the code that displays a flash file. This is explained very well at the adobe website link here. The GT Slide Show is designed for Flash Player 6 and higher. Since Flash Player 9 is already in high use, there will be greater usability with users viewing the file. For those that don't have Adobe Flash Player 6 or higher installed there are two common methods for encouraging the user to download the player. 1. Simply have some text underneath the swf file saying:
2. Have Flash detection software built into the html file. We used Adobe Flash 8 software to build our SWF files and during the build had it include Flash detection with the gtslideshowjs.html file. On the GRX Solutions website however I followed the instructions given below in the .../detection_kit link. There are several methods to accomplish this and they are all explained there in the detection kit zip file. The GRX Solutions webpage has flash detection on the home page so you can look at that javascript code to get an idea of how we check for the player. In general we don't suggest flash detection on the index (home) page unless the site is predominately Flash based. Click here to access our online training videos. (A high speed connection is recommended). For more info on Flash Detection:
We've also included some screen shots of the GT Animated Slide Show file to give the user more incentive to download the player.
